PARENTAL COMMENTS:

Here are some of the things parents have to say about Elmhurst:

"I currently have two children at Elmhurst, my eldest also attended the school. I have always found that they strive to ensure all students reach their full potential. They always go above and beyond. If there has ever been an issue, it has been dealt with swiftly. Cannot speak more highly of SLT. An amazing school."

"I feel that the staff at this school, coupled with the pupils, make this one of the safest places to be... and when you are feeling safe and secure you can only do good."

"Each teacher I have had the pleasure of meeting has been fantastic, with my sons best interests as a priority. I love the interaction I have via class Dojo and the Elmhurst Facebook page, it's always a joy to see photos of my boys at school."

The teachers really get to know our children so that what they teach is understood and at their level. Both my children enjoy their school day completely. My son told me he loved his school this morning!

"I believe that the school gives our child the tools to become a wonderful person. The school allows the children to grow and make mistakes to learn by them. All staff at the school are happy and friendly. I honestly could not praise the school enough."

"The staff are friendly, welcoming and go above and beyond to help the children and offer them fantastic opportunities. You get a real feel of the community from the school, parents and pupils."

Being a governor at Elmhurst is both varied and interesting.

Over this last term we have attended meetings of the Governors, supported interviews, attended assemblies, worked on finance, visited classrooms and made candy floss and sold raffle tickets at Elmfest! Each of these experiences reminds us of how privileged we are to be a part of Elmhurst.

Why? It is because, no matter why we are here, the children are always polite, friendly and enthusiastic; showing pride in their school and wanting to do their best. Showing Elmhurst Etiquette!

This is a great credit to you as families, but it is also down to the strong and positive culture, set by the Headteachers and Senior Leaders, and shared by every adult who works in school. It is tangible and evident in all areas and at all times.

At this week’s Governing Board meeting we discussed a recent report by a visitor to the school. He spent a day in school to gather information for a ‘Behaviour Health Check’ before planning a course for the staff, which he will be running over the next year.

The conclusion to his report follows: ‘Elmhurst Junior School is a wonderful school with a culture that oozes kindness and positivity, with plenty of emotional support in place for children. The hard bit has already been established, the culture.’

This response is typical of all the many visitors who come to Elmhurst. We, as Governors, are very proud to be a part of it.

As Co-Chairs we would like to thank our great team of Governors who give their time and expertise, freely, to benefit the school. We would also like to thank Tracy and Mike who guide us in our work and are open and honest in their dealings with Governors. Finally, may we wish you and your families a wonderful Summer break. Let’s hope that the weather continues to be kind and everyone has a safe and happy time.

We wish Year 6 children every success as they move on to new schools in September; and we look forward to welcoming Year 2 children and parents to the school in the new term.

Best wishes,

Claire Axten and Andy Shepherd,

Co-Chairs of Governors
