Headteacher's Welcome

We are a busy but friendly school with lots going on. This website aims to give you a taster of the school, as well as providing regularly updated information for both children and parents.

We hope that you enjoy your visit to our website and that you find any information you are looking for.

Please feel free to contact the school office (01458 442979)  direct with any queries you may have. Mrs James, Mrs Warden and Mrs Smith will then be able to direct you to the person best suited to answer your questions.

Thank you for visiting.

Watch this space to learn more about what our values mean to us and how we go about demonstrating them in all that we do.

We work very closely with our colleagues at Hindhayes. Have a look at their website here.

Here are some of the things parents have to say about Elmhurst:

"I currently have two children at Elmhurst, my eldest also attended the school. I have always found that they strive to ensure all students reach their full potential. They always go above and beyond. If there has ever been an issue, it has been dealt with swiftly. Cannot speak more highly of SLT. An amazing school."

"I feel that the staff at this school, coupled with the pupils, make this one of the safest places to be... and when you are feeling safe and secure you can only do good."

"Each teacher I have had the pleasure of meeting has been fantastic, with my sons best interests as a priority. I love the interaction I have via class Dojo and the Elmhurst Facebook page, it's always a joy to see photos of my boys at school."

The teachers really get to know our children so that what they teach is understood and at their level. Both my children enjoy their school day completely. My son told me he loved his school this morning!

"I believe that the school gives our child the tools to become a wonderful person. The school allows the children to grow and make mistakes to learn by them. All staff at the school are happy and friendly. I honestly could not praise the school enough."

"The staff are friendly, welcoming and go above and beyond to help the children and offer them fantastic opportunities. You get a real feel of the community from the school, parents and pupils."

This week, the Governors have had a training session on data with Tracy and Mike.  This tells us how all the children are doing in Maths and English, and is one of the areas that we as Governors need to understand about the school.  At each Governor meeting we have the opportunity to question and discuss with the Heads.

However, this is only one area of our concern as Governors.  What we really want to know is; are the children learning and thriving?  Do they have lots of opportunities that are wide and varied?  Are they happy at school?  Are they safe and secure?  Are they achieving? Is everyone working to ensure each child has the best possible experience?

The answer to all these questions is an emphatic YES.  We have reports from the Heads and staff.  We talk to children and we find them to be confident and open in their conversation.  We go into classes, which are orderly, with exciting lessons and great enthusiasm.  We read the newsletter to hear about the wide variety of experiences and successes.

When we do have questions we always find that the Heads and their team are ready to answer honestly and openly, and, if something needs addressing, they do this and report back to us.

It truly is a privilege to be a Governor at Elmhurst.  We do have a vacancy; so if you know of anyone in the community who is interested in being part of our school, please direct them to the Heads.

The Governors wish you all a very happy May holiday with sunshine all the way!

Claire Axten and Andy Shepherd,

Co-Chairs of Governors
